Ok, well I have just gotten a new HP Touchsmart Laptop. Yes, this is the one that you can write on the screen. It's model TX2-1274nr. It has the following Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, 500 GB hard drive, 4 GB Ram, DVD RW. 3 usb ports, 1 RJ-45 port, modem port, etc, etc.

So far so good for using the HIP software. It loaded up just fine. (Had to put in my registration info, even though I copied over my data file. No big deal).
Ran through a test of my home again...ugh.. But overall I am impressed. I can now cut my time down to about 45 minutes to an hour or less just merging the photos and receipts.

To handle the receipts at the same time I have purchased a VuPoint Solutions Magic Wand scanner. It runs on 2 AA batteries, (it's not like I don't carry a battery store around any way), and also requires a Micro SD memory card. It will scan both color and b/w, the dpi can also be set manually.

Both machines working together will make my performing home inventories that much easier and quicker.

Enjoy.

So what do you think of the Magic Wand? I thought about buying it?

I actually like it. It's not too hard to use. Makes things a bit easier.

NICE
I actually have a scanning question.  I bought a portable scanner that connects by usb and slim light weight...All good, except it doesn't work.BUT other than that, what does everyone use for scanning 8 1/2 X 10 documents?  I can see a small scanner for receipts.

My scanner is perfect for scanning 8 x 10's. or smaller. It uses a mini-SD card. Which comes with an adapter for making it usable with my laptop. Push a button to scan. Push it again to stop scanning. Saves automatically as a jpg format. It's portable and easy to use. Also it doesn't need to be connect to the laptop to use. Also used 2 AA batteries for power.
